Mothers Day Card

This one is for all the adults who have been asking for a craft. Although this is a mothers day shadow box card, the images and sentiments can be replaced and used for any occasion. Think spring scene with flowers and birds, a globe for earth day etc.

The basic card is the long strip that you score on dashed lines and cut on the solid lines. This assembles to be a box shaped card with the top and bottom open and the front cut out. The images of the fence, the house, the sun and mountains and the sentiment can all be printed and cut by hand. If you have a Cricut or Silhouette machine, I can send you the file to cut automatically.

Here is what the finished product looks like viewed from the front. Also I hand cut the fence so that it has the spaces in between, you don't have to.

View from the top. I used dimensional foam to keep the back scene and the cloud a little raised. You can do this on any of the pieces.

The Card folds flat if you want to mail or put in an envelope.

Here are what the pieces look like :

Long Light blue is the main card "box" with window cut out. The two small light blue strips are inserts are for the house and the fence to be attached to. The dark blue frame is for the on top of the window cut out and the 2 dark blue pieces for the sides of the box. I will give instructions based on the colours I used but you can use any colour. See photo below.

1. Glue dark blue frame to the front of the card. Glue the panels to the two sides.

2. Glue the house to one of the inserts and the fence to the other. Make sure one is on the left and one is on the right so they don't block each other. feel free to reshape the top. You can also cut out the space between the pickets of the fence.

3.Attach the sentiment to the front of the card. I used the raised double sided foam from dollar store.

Now you are ready to attach the inserts to the inside of the card

1.stick the scene with the mountain and sun to the inside back of card as shown in photo below

2. The tab with the house, line up the left of the insert with the left score line closest to the photo of the mountain...see below...make sure that the bottom edge of insert and card are parallel

3. Glue the left side of the second insert (the one with the fence on it) in front of the house, again line up the edges of card and insert .

4. Look at photo below: Both inserts are flat and glue is on the right tabs. Close the card so that the tabs adhere to back.

5. glue the "box" to complete.
